Ingredients

Serves 4

1 Box Barilla® Elbows
1 Cup Lactose free cheddar cheese​
3 Tbs margarine​
5 Tbs Flour
3 Cups lactose free milk ​
4 Tbs aged Parmigiano cheese (naturally lactose-free)-grated​

Breadcrumbs

TIP Nutmeg, to taste​
TIP Salt, to taste​
TIP Pepper, to taste​
​1/2 Panko breadcrumbs​
1 Tbs extra virgin olive oil
1 Tbs butter​
1 Clove minced​
1 Tsp parsley, chopped

Method

Step 1

Cut the Cheddar cheese into small cubes and in a small saucepot heat the milk added with a pinch of salt.​

Step 2

In a pot, melt the margarine, add the flour, mixing well together to avoid clumps. Cook for about 3-5 minutes on a low heat to obtain a “Roux” sauce.​

Add milk little by little , mix well with a whisk to get the béchamel until a creamy texture, then the cheddar and grated parmigiano cheese, together with the spices (nutmeg, pepper and salt) .​

Step 4

Cook pasta according to package directions and drain.​

Pour in the cheesy béchamel sauce previously prepared and mix delicately. ​

Pour pasta into a greased 9x9 inch baking dish, sprinkle with grated Parmigiano cheese and breadcrumbs. Cook in a pre-heated oven at 400° F for about 20 minutes.​
